Award-winning bilingual preschool Raffles Kidz International introduces two new campuses in Yishun and Jurong West (Surbana)
Raffles Kidz International is racking up prestigious preschool awards left right and centre and has made quite the name for itself amongst parents in Singapore. They are proudly not a franchise so they can ensure consistent excellence across all their preschools — their first campus Yio Chu Kang opened in 2014 and they have since expanded to Bukit Panjang, Punggol, Jurong West (Yuan Ching), and three new centres this year: Ang Mo Kio (June 2023), Yishun (September 2023) and Jurong West (Surbana) (October 2023).
If you’re looking for a preschool that offers a holistic education with an emphasis on nurturing the whole child, you’re going to want to know about Raffles Kidz International’s inquiry-based/Montessori-style approach. Throw in their immersive bilingual education, an experienced team of qualified and well-trained educators, and plenty of outdoor play and you’ve got yourself a pretty in-demand preschool as their Google and Facebook reviews can attest (we hear there’s a long waitlist, mostly driven by word-of-mouth!). If you’re keen to see it for yourselves why not head to their Open House on Saturday 2 December? Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what makes this school such a popular choice!
Holistic education and bilingual programme
If you want your child to learn a language, Raffles Kidz International offers an immersive bilingual environment, with English and Chinese teachers on hand to teach kids to think and speak in both languages so that they become confident bilingual communicators.
Chinese is taught in a literacy-based method that equips children with essential reading, writing, and critical thinking skills and builds a strong literacy foundation. Core subjects of English and Mathematics are taught with a Montessori approach that allows children to learn independently at their own pace. Teachers pay close attention to their interests to lead them to think critically and creatively in areas that get them naturally curious and excited about learning.
While there may be an emphasis on academic foundation, critical thinking, knowledge acquisition and problem-solving skills to prepare children for primary school at Raffles Kidz International, this is balanced well with plenty of outdoor play and fun enrichment activities.
Enrichment classes part of the curriculum, no extra fees
The Open Play Module encourages kids to develop motor skills and social skills through meaningful and purposeful play during outdoor play and hands-on activities at special learning corners. Plus kids get exposure to various enrichment programmes to explore art, culture and cookery such as Gourmet Chef, Chinese Speech and Drama and Creative Arts. These lessons are integrated with literacy, creative thinking and life skills, and you’ll be happy to know they are included in the school fees!
Time for play: bicycle tracks, outdoor fun and water play
The classrooms are spacious and there are learning pods such as reading nooks, Montessori shelves, Lego walls, pegboard walls, and other discovery walls. Each centre also has its own outdoor playground, some have water play areas and the majority have a bicycle track to encourage active outdoor play.
We love that Raffles Kidz International really partners with parents throughout from keeping them in the loop on their child’s learning through a range of communication platforms to encouraging parents to participate in school events and holding Parent Teacher Meetings twice a year, where parents can get regular updates on their child’s progress.
